Acts of corruption happen each and every day, not only in foreign countries with corrupt leaders, but in the businesses and service industries right here in the United States. Just a few weeks ago and attorney as found guilty in cases money laundering and fraud conspiracy involving immigration and visa issuance’s. The case involving Kenneth Rothey of Houston, Texas concluded with his plea of guilty and his sentencing of fourteen months in prison. For many years, Rothey had been expediting the illegal entry of Chinese immigrants into the United States.

He had been hiding from the United States law enforcement agencies in China for the last three years. But the investigations into his crimes led to his extradition from the country, and his being brought into the US Federal Court for his indictment and eventual prosecution. He was not alone in this schemes as he employed the us of eight United States companies. These businesses acted on behalf of the Chinese illegal aliens by providing faulty petitions. The Chinese paid Rothey and the American companies thousands of dollars for the fake documents that stated they were eligible for permanent residency based on their employment status.

Another man who entered a guilty plea was Horacio Golfarini. He was accused and confessed to aiding the conspiracy through his activities laundering the money for the operation. His involvement occurred between the years of 1999 and 2002. He was sent to prison for eighteen months and is to pay a five thousand dollar fine. A third and a fourth suspects were convicted, Norman Chapa for his involvement in the false visas, and the encouragement of the illegal immigration practices, and Ricardo Aguirre for his involvement as well. Both men were also given prison time, as well as a one million dollar fine assigned to Aguire.

As is true for most of India, the state of Kerala has a large population of Hindu followers. Because of this, it houses one of the most famous temples to the Lord Vishnu. The temple is located inside the fort of the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, also known as Trivandrum. Tourists are attracted to this beautiful city for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenic views. Guests who stay in the best hotels Kerala are also amazed by the vibrant and diverse arts scene in the city.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of India’s 108 divya desam, which are considered to be the holiest houses of Lord Vishnu. The deity Padmanabhaswamy is one of Vishnu’s incarnations and is typically depicted in the Anananthasayanam posture, which means in eternal sleep. It is an ancient temple and the city’s name is taken from the deity that is enshrined within it. The temple stands by a large tank, known as the louts spring. It has a 100 foot, seven tier goguram, which is an ornate monument tower. There is a corridor in the temple that houses 365 elaborately carved granite pillars.

In each of the divya desam’s, Vishnu is presented in one of three positions. In this temple, the Lord Vishnu is depicted in the reclining position over Anantha, who is a serpent. The serpent is poised as if enjoying the aroma of the lotus that Vishnu is holding. Vishnu’s right hand is positioned over Shiva, and Sridevi and Bhudevi stand by his side. The figure is composed of 10,008 Saligram from the banks of the river Gandaki in Nepal. They were carried to the temple on the backs of elephants in a ritual celebration. There are many legends and myths surrounding the origin of this temple and many of these stories are incorporated into the cultural tradition of the region. One of the myths associated with the site of the temple is that it is the location where Vishnu gave darshan, which is a revelation and blessing, to Indian sages.

Surprisingly enough, there are many lakes throughout the city of Udaipur. What may not be so surprising is that they were all built, man-made. Many of them are located conveniently close to the Udaipur Palace hotel and resorts, and can the sting out of the hot summer temperatures. One such lake was built in 1678, Fateh Sagar. This was the second man-made lake in the city. This lake was designed to help with the overflow of water that occurs during the monsoon season in India, as well as providing the perfect day trip out of the city of Udaipur. This lake is the perfect place to take the entire family.

There are boat rides that take one to any of the three islands situated in the lake. The largest of the islands is Nehru Park and contains a beautiful garden perfect for picnics as well as a few small restaurants. There is even a zoo designed especially for children. This island is a favorite among tourists as well as locals wanting to get out of town from the hustle and bustle of Udaipur. The second island is also a park, constructed by the Rajasthan Government, designed with many fountains and gardens.

On the third island is the Udaipur Solar Observatory, which is the best of the observatories throughout Asia. Many come to the lake in search of serenity and relaxation gained through the wandering of the gardens or the waters of the lake. Pedal boats are rented daily, as well as power boats. There is a dam on one side of the lake, however the rest is surrounded by mountains which add to the beauty of the landscape and provide those so inclined with the opportunity for hiking along the paths. Many choose to drive around the lake, on the winding roads, Moti Magri, Rani, and along Fateh Sagar Drive. The views of the islands, the Aravalli Hills, and the lake along this route are stunning, and many tourists find this to be one of the best ways to take in the tranquility and the beauty of this lake.

India is already forming a special task force to examine ways to ensure the security of spectators and athletes at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. This action seems to be precipated by recent terrorist attacks on Sri Lankan cricket players attending a match in Pakistan. While the timing of the announcement suggests this connection, the organizing body for the Games insists that security planning has been on track for some time.

The Games, which are scheduled for October 3-14, 2010, will see the addition of at least 5000 New Delhi police officers to the well-trained force. The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) will run a series of security tests during the trial events that lead up to the main Games.

Businesses in the city are looking forward to the event, which will be the largest sports event held in India since the 1982 Asian Games. Though still a long way off, five star hotels in New Delhi are already receiving inquiries as are other hotels and lodgings. Shops and restaurants that survive the current economic crisis, will no doubt offer special rates, menus, and goods during the trial competitions as well as the main event.

New Delhi is only the second Asian city selected to host the Commonwealth Games. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia hosted the Games in 1998. The Commonwealth Games are a multi-sport event, similar to the Olympics, which feature around 5000 athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations.

Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands in the chain off of the coast of Spain, has become well known for the pristine beauty of the island as well as the clear blue water just off its beaches. Tourism is a growing industry, has been for the last fifty years, bringing more and more tourists and more and more locals, moving from other countries in hopes of finding jobs in the restaurants, shops, beach resorts and 5 star hotels Mallorca. While this is very good for the economy, it has the possibility of wreaking havoc on the environment. The government of Spain has taken notice.

Ten years ago, the capital city of Mallorca, La Palma, starting installing energy saving light bulbs into the traffic lights. While the bulbs use less energy during the day, they put out a brighter light at night, thus attacking two issues with the same response. Energy usage is down as the lights use less wattage to operate, and they put out about 1,500 less tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year. The effect of having them burn brighter at night has reduced the number of traffic accidents around the island. And now, after ten years, all of the traffic lights on the island are of the energy saving kind, making La Palma the first city to partake in such a state of the art procedure.

The country of Spain also has the distinguished honor of producing the largest capacity of wind generated power, second only to the county of Germany. The government subsidies the plants for the last eight years and while plans are being made to cut the founding, the plants do produce a profit at the end of every year, so more wind plants will continue to be built. After the conference last year in La Palma the government assured that although funding for the wind plants is going down, the funding they are dedicating to solar power will increase 50 percent. This will have an effect not only for the islands off the coast of Spain, but perhaps for the rest of the world, perhaps serve as inspiration for the rest of the world as they are proving that a big, and growing city, can exist and actually make profits off cleaner and more environmentally sound ways of generating energy.
