Acts of corruption happen each and every day, not only in foreign countries with corrupt leaders, but in the businesses and service industries right here in the United States. Just a few weeks ago and attorney as found guilty in cases money laundering and fraud conspiracy involving immigration and visa issuance’s. The case involving Kenneth Rothey of Houston, Texas concluded with his plea of guilty and his sentencing of fourteen months in prison. For many years, Rothey had been expediting the illegal entry of Chinese immigrants into the United States.

He had been hiding from the United States law enforcement agencies in China for the last three years. But the investigations into his crimes led to his extradition from the country, and his being brought into the US Federal Court for his indictment and eventual prosecution. He was not alone in this schemes as he employed the us of eight United States companies. These businesses acted on behalf of the Chinese illegal aliens by providing faulty petitions. The Chinese paid Rothey and the American companies thousands of dollars for the fake documents that stated they were eligible for permanent residency based on their employment status.

Another man who entered a guilty plea was Horacio Golfarini. He was accused and confessed to aiding the conspiracy through his activities laundering the money for the operation. His involvement occurred between the years of 1999 and 2002. He was sent to prison for eighteen months and is to pay a five thousand dollar fine. A third and a fourth suspects were convicted, Norman Chapa for his involvement in the false visas, and the encouragement of the illegal immigration practices, and Ricardo Aguirre for his involvement as well. Both men were also given prison time, as well as a one million dollar fine assigned to Aguire.
