Mumbai Artist Navjot Altaf
Visiting India is often a life-changing experience. For millions of people, it is a homecoming experience, touching the roots of a bloodline that begins somewhere here in this vast and bewildering country. For many others, it is also like a homecoming, and a means of experiencing another way of living that is beautiful and very old, and somehow also very familiar. It is impossible to generalize India in any way, because it is always shifting and evolving, revealing new and fascinating details every moment. This is perhaps nowhere more true than in Mumbia, one of India’s most thriving and bewildering cities. There are cultures and languages of all sorts here, and the whole sea of humanity displays itself in fascinating ways. There are also amazing restaurants here, as well as splendid hotels. Mumbai, India has everything.
It can be difficult to choose, too, with all the choices a large city can offer, but our hotels are carefully selected based on their long track records for providing quality service and excellent hospitality. It is a splendid feeling to wake up in your sumptuous and spacious room, with the sense that all your needs are met and that you are in good hands. It helps to give you a sense of rejuvenation that will help you to go out into this fantastic city, and enjoy your new adventures here. If you’ve come to look at art, there is way too much to take in at one visit, but it’s absolutely worth trying. In your explorations, you might come across the splendid work of Navjot Altaf.
She studied at the Sir J.J. School of Arts from 1967-1972, in Mumbai, and lives here doing an extraordinary number of projects. She works in many different realms, including installation art, painting, video, and music, and has been featured in several international exhibitions. Her work is a deep reflection of women’s reality here, combining political consciousness with great technical skill. Altaf also speaks quite frequently about the trends in contemporary art in India and in the world, with papers and workshops, and is one of the many active artists working in Mumbai today.
