Seems the market for organically grown food is ever increasing. The awareness of the burden of chemical fertilizers and risks of pesticides are fueling the drive to organics. The secondary result is a heightened awareness of nutrition and how foods effect the body. Fertilizers and pesticides used in out food we eat today has grown greatly. Most people know of the risks of increased cancer rates, asthma, and autism in children to name only a few. The risks of these chemicals go far and wide. The effects of chemical fertilizers has been felt in water way like, rivers, streams, ponds and even oceans. The fertilizers have caused explosive growth of allergies that choke out the fish life. Massive tracts of land are fertilized and laden with chemical pesticides in an effort to fulfill an increasing demand for food. Smaller farmers are now on the rise and local farmers markets are increasing in number all over the country. The awareness of organic healthy nutritious food is taking hold across the nation. Even the lowest of retail chains like Walmart are beginning to carry more organics showing the awareness to all levels of society. Organics are no available in major chains of groceries stores, regional shops and local farmers markets where in season is also the focus. At the farmers market you can see what is in season in your local by viewing the produce brought in from the fields by the growers. Many resturaunts are now offering organic fare some only organic fare. These resturaunts make foods in all styles and ethnic types some inventing new cuisines for these changing times. All in all the desire and movement toward organic and sustainable farming practices needs to grow so we can clean up our environment.
