The Bibbulmun Track is the longest walking trail in Western Australia around 975 kilometers. The distance varies marginally as the track frequently re-aligns due to weather phenomena and other naturally occurring events.Kalamunda is the northern trailhead, a hilly suburb to Perth. Albany is the southern trailhead on the southern coast of Western Australia. The trail leaves Kalamunda traveling through Jarrah forest then enters the Karri forest and winds around the south. The Track emerges on the southern ocean for the final coastal run into Albany. It is endearingly referred to as the forest of the coast track.
There are at least 48 campsites to camp overnight or even longer if you like. The campsites facilities include three-sided shelters, bush toilet, picnic tables, water and campfires. The track even goes through several towns and villages. The Track is divided into 58 sections. It’s not uncommon for end to end or section walkers to walk more than one section in a day. If your time is limited, you can take short walks and still enjoy the beauty Bibbulmun Track and still have something to talk to your friends about. Since the track is immense there are many places to start than just the trailhead due to the many hotels situated within walking distance from the Track itself.
