The Value of Social Marketing
September 9th, 2008
Within social media marketing others control and define the marketing message. In traditional marketing it was the marketers who controlled the message.
Social interactions pre web did take place but they were usually on a local and limited level. The web changed this.
Reaching out conveys confidence, accessibility, respect and authenticity to people both inside and outside the brand community. Even if you cannot always control the conversation, you can always join in the conversation. That lets you project an image of authenticity and transparency and helps build up your brand value. The power of social media can help grow long term site equity.
